René Eijsbouts was educated as a Business Engineer (MSc) at the university of Eindhoven (TUE) with a specialty in logistics. He has been serving at OPEN Foundation (Wecycle) since April 1, 2019, where he initiates strategic projects in the field of the circular economy. Before that, he was heavily involved in the Action Plan 65%, an important document for the National Government to appoint OPEN Foundation as the sole EPR system for WEEE in the Netherlands.

Before joining OPEN Foundation, with his previous employer engineering company Witteveen+Bos, he engaged in many feasibility studies and realization projects for recycling parks, separation plants for waste processors (AEB Amsterdam/Twence) and municipal waste collection yards (variant studies, cost-benefit, technical and environmental feasibility). In 2012, Mr. Eijsbouts had joined the international group of Witteveen+Bos, serving as senior expert on waste-related issues abroad (Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Romania, Kazakhstan). In 2016, he held the position of Group Leader Circular Economy until his departure to Wecycle which became OPEN Foundation, 2 years later.
